Marikina Receives an Outpouring of Blessings
CSM and Partners Successfully Hold “Project Rainbow after the Storm”More than two months after the country has been devastated by the typhoon Ondoy, people are still expressing compassion for the victims through various relief operations. Church Strengthening Ministry, with the purpose of helping God’s people reach God’s world, shares in this spirit of genuine fellowship. With the help of partner organizations, CSM conducted “Project Rainbow after the Storm,” a one-day empowering and rebuilding activity to assist in the rehabilitation of the local churches in Marikina and nearby cities. Held last December 5, 2009 at the Marikina City Hall quadrangle, the event was brought forth through CSM’s partnership with Agape Philippine-American Ministries, Marikina Cultural Tourism Trade & Investment Promotions Office (MCTTPO), Marikina City Government, and the Far East Broadcasting Company (FEBC).
During the morning program, FEBC Station Manager Ptr. Eric Maliwat led the re-launching of his book Urbanidad. The book was co-authored by Marikina Mayor Marides Fernando, who graced the event and shared words to uplift the people. Also present were Vice Mayor Marion S. Andres and Congressman of 1st District Marikina Marcelino “Marcy” Teodoro. The program was hosted by CSM Training Head Ptr. Mhanny Torio and Marketing Officer Ms. Faye Villanueva.

Almost 400 participants from different churches were equipped for the next ministry year’s Sunday school through a free Sunday school teachers training workshop, featuring the new Faith Grower Bible Curriculum.
Mr. Nelson Ayala, founder and president of Agape Philippine-American Ministries, gave an inspirational talk during the afternoon. This was followed by the distribution of free church resources headed by CSM Chief Executive Officer Abner Lacson.

A total of one hundred fifteen (115) churches (93 registered; 22 walk-in) each received 100 volumes of resources sponsored by the Agape Philippine-American Ministries. Besides churches in Marikina and Pasig who were mostly affected by the calamity, blessings were extended as well to some churches from the Rizal province, Manila, Quezon City, and Cavite. The recipients expressed their gratitude because the materials will truly be helpful in rebuilding the church libraries that were damaged.
Continued blessings extended all over the place throughout the day because of the P99 book festival. Pastoral resources, devotionals, leadership materials, and other materials for Christian growth were available for sale.
We may have been the means to extend God’s favor during that day. But it was indeed an outpouring of blessings from the Giver of All as He always gives opportunities for us to see the rainbow after every storm.
The Faith Grower training workshop tackles faith development in children, Bible study and lesson preparation, and how age-group characteristics, learning styles and teaching methods interact in the learning process.
